Does prolapsed (fallen) bladder patient need surgery?
Best answer:
Registered Nurse Here; Mild cases of prolapsed bladder, usually respond well to non surgical treatment. The prolapsed bladder, should improve, possible completely with keagel excercises, providing the physician or nurse went over with your mom how to preform, (one just sqeezes the muscles to stop the flow of urination, hold it for 20 to 30 seconds and repeat, 10 to 20 times, 5 to 6 times a day). Surgery is usually a permenant fix, however for whatever reason it prolapsed this time, could certainely happen again. Any Surgery is Risky, all though safe the vast majority of time, however your mother is only 56 years old, and if she needs surgery within the next 10 years or so, if other disease or disease process is not present, she certainely has time to try a more conservative approach, such as excercises, no lifting. As for as the cost of the surgery, hospital fees, etc. Approxiametly 15,000 to 20,000. Hopefully your mom has insurance, the cost of health care is staggering it is so high. Thanks for the opportunity to address your question. I hope this helped. Take Care, and best of luck to your mom.
