it does move you know.
depending on how aroused you are it lengthens and extends, kind of like a reverse erection, so that is why you can probably feel it.It's normal for a woman's cervix to move during your cycle and after during ovulation and as said when you're turned on. If you were prolapsed you would have the sudden overwhelming urge to pee often and extreme pain in the cervix and bladder area. Mention this to your obgyn if you are worried.
can anyone explain vaginal prolapse to me in less medical terms? (dropped cervix, swollen vagina)?

First of all, it's probably nothing. Researching stuff on the internet can sometimes help, but normally it just freaks you out and you end up self diagnosing yourself with a million different things.
The chance of you having cancer at 16 is incredibly, incredibly small.
If you're not turned on, you vaginal wall shuts. This means that, if you try and put your finger inside your vagina, you will feel tissue. It's not a growth- it's normal.
Vaginal prolapses are fairly rare. Keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't change after a month (and is still painful) go and see a doctor.
The internet is not a valid alternative to a trained professionalunless you've had a few children, it's very doubtful that you have vaginal prolapse.Sweetheart, relax. You do not have cancer. And you do not have a prolapsed uterus, dropped cervix or anything else.
You are okay. If you want to make sure the only way is a pelvic exam by a doctor. Not a pleasant thing. Keep your fingers out of your vagina and just relax.Hey Girl,
You really have to tell your mother, Vaginal Swelling and lumps aren't normal at all. If it is Cancer you need it looked at soon, It would really suck if you died because you were too embarrassed to tell your mother.
I Hope nothing is seriously wrong.

That could be the reason why your vagina is swollen.vaginal prolapse happens when the tissue and muscle of the vagina weaken to a point of letting gravity pull it down. you NEED to see a doctor if you feel a lump in that area or any female part of the anatomy.
back to the prolapse: usually this happens to the elderly women who have had multiple births or hysterectomy. mine was from a hysterectomy. had the surgery and am fine.
also have you had any problems having a bowel movement? i know, this is another embarrassing ? but if so, that lump could be a condition called a rectocele. this is where there is a weakening in the tissue between the vagina wall and the rectum. this can be fixed also. both of these conditions require surgery. please tell your mom and see a dr. he or she may find it's none of the above, but nevertheless, it needs care! You need to talk with your mother and discuss your concerns with her. Embarrassment of the subject matter should not be a concern to you. Researching medical information on the internet can't diagnose what you are experiencing, only your physician can do that after a vaginal examination. Talk to your mother, and see your physician. Your health is more important than being embarrassed because you were blessed to be born a female.
