My doctor wants to do a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy on me! Is this type of hysterectomy -?
Best answer:
yes..Well it's not minor surgery...
All in all I'd say it's right in the middle between the extremes of a heart transplant and having a mole removed...
It's pretty simple in theory. Snip the little bugger out, sew everything up and you're on your way. But then again the uterus is a highly vascular organ.
Your worries should be discussed with your surgeon though, he should most certainly know more about it than anybody on here.I work in surgery, and I happen to assist in these cases all the time. This is a very routine procedure, and generally very safe. I have probably assisted in about 50 cases in the past 8 months, and I have not seen even one complication. It is considered a major surgery , but the fact that it is laproscopic, makes it a lot easier for your body to heal. The only difference between this and a TAH (total abdominal hysterectomy, is that the cervix is not removed.
will I have any unexpected problems while recovering from a laproscopic supracervical hysterectomy?
Best answer:
The only thing that usually hurts after laproscopic surgery is the shoulders from the gas they use to blow up the abdomen. Once the gas is gone you shouldnt have any problems. Sounds like you are recovering nicely.
