Q&A: Uterine Prolapse and Pessaries- Are they permanent?

Uterine Prolapse and Pessaries- Are they permanent?
Best answer:
A pessary may be used temporarily by a woman who is awaiting surgery, or permanently by a women who does not want or who is not a good candidate for surgery. It does not cure the problem but it relieves symptoms associated with prolapse. It must be inserted by a doctor. The pessary should not stay in longer than four months without being cleaned. You may go to the doctor to have it removed and cleaned several times a year, or your doctor can show you how to do it yourself. Best of luck!
