Complete Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
Complete Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
Best answer:
Tying the tubes is not sterilization. It is a reversible procedure. Most doctors are very reluctant to do a radical hysterectomy on someone as young as you. At twenty, you have about 20-30 more years of child-bearing age . How do you know that future circumstances may change your attitude to wanting more children? A hysterectomy can also have quite a profound effect on the rest of your body, because it can stop the body's production of female hormones, leading to similar symptoms to menopause, possible loss or lessening of sexual libido, and increased risk of osteoporosis.it seems common practise now to do mesh repairs for prolapses.
also because of your age it is considered better to not do a hysterectomy.
having your tubes tied is a good form of contraception, means you never have to worry about bc or pregnancy any more.
hope all goes well, and eventually you feel more comfortable and can lead a normal life againYour reasoning is really sound. I think the only real reason they don't want to do the hysterectomy is because you're under 21 and they fear legal repercussions. I'm not sure how to get around that except by agreeing to sign all kinds of things. I can think of one reason why a mesh might be better, though: a hysterectomy is probably more extensive surgery than a mesh implant, so you'll really have some trouble caring for your kids for a longer time with a hyst than with the mesh. Ask the doc if that is true or not. Also ask what's the main reason it works only 75% of the time, not 100%. It could be because it's done on older women who don't heal as well, or not done by docs as skilled as yours. If that's the case, then your situation could be closer to 100% than to 75% success for mesh.
I have to have a Lavh because of pelvic organ prolapse and I am so afraid.?
Best answer:
your best bet is to talk it over with the Dr
try to relax=you will be asleep through the surgery
and will be better in a short while God BlessI had a tah-bso. the Lavh is much less invasive and takes less time to heal. You should be up and around the next day and the incision should heal within a few weeks. You will feel sooo much better when you don't have to worry about all that stuff any more. The only needle is the IV they put in your arm. They will take you into the operating room and one minute you are talking to the tech and the next minute you are back in your room and it is all done. You will feel really hazy and groggy for a while after you wake up, but if you just rest for a while, you will feel better. The most annoying thing is trying to get any sleep at the hospital. Just be aware that they will wake you up to do this and that all night long. Once you get home, Have someone to help you with the first few days home. You will be so glad you did it. I found this website a wonderful help called www.hystersisters.com You are in my prayers.Coming from someone who has never had this done I have to say that the fact that you are terrified tells me that you are not ready to do it. I would recommend getting several more opinions one of them being from a urogynecologist whose specialty is that of treating pelvic floor disorders such as prolapses.
You can cancel this surgery any time (I'm mentioning this in case you are ever told that it's too late to cancel).
And with the pain that you are having right now, because you aren't sure if it's because of the prolapse is all the more reason why you should get several more opinions. You should not feel forced or pressured to do something that you aren't ready for (unless it's a matter of life and death and then that's a different situation).
In the mean time try to get in to a Pain Management dr to see if they can help with the pain while you get these other opinions. Get as many as it takes to make you feel comfortable with a decision that's right for you.
