When you cough you are pulling at your stitches. They cut through muscle to get your uterus out. You have to wait 8 weeks to have sex to give your body ample time to heal. My mom had a vaginal hysterectomy and she felt better after 2 weeks. She started going back to work part time after 3 weeks. Abdominal hysterectomies take longer to heal from because they are more traumatic then vaginal ones. Just use the time to rest and do what the doctor says.well normally they say 6-12 weeks...so i would think by like the 8th week you should start to feel normal...hope your feeling better soon!It takes about 8 weeks for the incision to heal.
However,I had no feeling down there for at least 6 months.Seriously,I thought I was ruined for life.
I still feel a pull in my scar when I sneeze and my son is 25.

I thought this was the best surgery anyone could have ever done for me!
I felt great after wards. The abdominal swelling only lasted a few days, the weakness maybe few days longer. Sex is GREAT now!
Just take whatever medications your physician has prescribed for you or whatever vitamins you normally take on an everyday basis. You will heal with or without them just fine.
2 weeks after my surgery, I was on a trip to Las Vegas...good luck.
