Will doctors do a hysterectomy because of family history of uterine cancer?
Best answer:
Possibly, but a very slight chance. Continue to see your Gyn Dr yearly. You have to be a certain age or have a certain number of kids, can't remember how many. Drs won't do a surgery like that, that you may later regret.Very unlikely. A hysterectomy is a major operation, with all the risks associated with any operation of this type. An ethical doctor would need a sound medical reason, based on more than just fear of a possible future problemCheck with your Dr. You are very young to consider this but it is possible given your family hisroty.
Make sure it is ONLY a hysterectomy not a hysterectomy and opherectomy, somtimes referred to as a partial hysterectomy. This way you retain your ovaries and do not go through early menopause. No, a doctor wouldn't do it until you are diagnosed with uterine cancer. What you are talking about is a "therapeutic" hysterectomy. You are "anticipating" uterine cancer. There is also a possibility you won't have uterine cancer. Your gynecologist may want to perform yearly ultrasounds on your uterus to check for cancer.
Most insurance companies will not pay for a hysterectomy unless it is deemed "medically necessary". You have not been diagnosed with uterine cancer. At your age I highly doubt it. uterine cancer runs in my family as well. I would definitely hold off for a few years before getting your tubes tied or a hysterectomy. At 22 I was certain I was done having children and had mine tied. Biggest mistake of my life. Other than wanting more children no one warns you of the side effects of having your tubes tied. Im now 32 and the only way for me to have a child would be a tubal ligation reversal with a low chance of actually conceiving or ivf both are over $ 10,000.00. WHich is not possible at this time. I found out last month that I have to have a hysterectomy now and it is more devastating knowing I gave up my chance on another child. If you are bound and determined to get your tubes tied in the event they wont give you a hysterectomy then I suggest you google post tubal ligation syndrome. Make sure you know what you are getting into before opting for the tube tying =)

How long does someone with stage 4 uterine cancer have to live?
Best answer:
til christmas if she is lucky.I am so sorry to hear this.No one can really say how long another person will live. But I suggest you make every minute count.Spend as much time as possible with your Mom and show her how much she means to you.Stage for is not good.Stage 5 is the worse. So sorry you are going through this.10 Percent survival rate....Ashley I don't think your mom has too much longer to be with you. You have described what is basically a runaway cancer and it will continue to spread. Radiation will help prolong her life a bit but not for much longer. You really need to be talking with your dad and maybe a counselor about what to expect and will be happening in the weeks to come. I hope you are able to talk with her and spend time with her right now. I'm so sorry that you have to be going through this.
Best WishesI am so sorry to hear about your mother. Prayers for her and your family. The prognosis to me sounds very poor, maybe months, maybe weeks. I am not a Doctor. Only God knows. Spend precious time with her. Say everyting you have to talk about with her now. If you want family history, ancestry of the family- ask her about names, dates, etc and WRITE it all done (if your family doesn`t have it) , get pictures out and enjoy memories with her, take to a place she has always wanted to go see, let her talk all she wants, help make sure she has her affairs in order, ..I say all this because I went through it ..more than once. I am a retired RN and us 4 kids(brothers and sister) had our father at home 1996 with Hospice. My mother was in a hopsital 1984.We had our own Privet Duty RN in the family!! :) My heart goes out to her , you and your family. No one knows for sure.My wife had stage IV kidney cancer and made it almost six years.
