I'm not sure if studies would have been done in this area, but I doubt Depo-Provera could cause a prolapsed uterus.

The other side effects of Depo-Provera are a result of the hormones in your body, I don't see how hormonal changes would equal a prolapsed uterus.

I think you may have just been more genetically prone to experiencing a prolapsed uterus considering your mother had one as well. Consider that she probably never used Depo-Provera.

Other than that, I do have to add that I think Depo-provera is a horrible form of birth control and I absolutely do not recommend it. It does cause a reversible menopause phase and this isn't something anyone wants to go through with their birth control. It has many concerning short-term and long-term side effects.the progesterone in Depo might have contributed to the problem. The progestin helps relax the ligaments which hold the uterus in place. Example people with connective tissue disorders including Marfan and Ehlers - Danlos have naturally weak ligaments and are advised to avoid progestins as a result.
The ligaments are also weakened by oestrogen loss which is why menopausal women are very prone to prolapse.
I have EDS myself and this is why I am aware of the effects of progestins on the ligaments and the implication with uterine prolapse.
It sounds as though prolapse might be a familial trait in your case and depo provera wouldn't have helped although it could have been a minor contributory factor.

go to a doc. prolapsed uterus may not support the weight of a baby inside it to full term.. also makes conception more difficult. talk to a doc for options
