noThis is a big decision. My opinion, and like you said everyone has one, is that if your ovaries are healthy you should keep them. You are still very young and if you can stay away from hormonal replacement the better off you will be in the long run.i'd be absolutely sure you no longer want to have anymore children alot of women are almost positive they do not wish to have anymore children and immediately after not being able to have children they change their mind and with a hysterectomy there is no turning back so just be sure sweetie dont want to do something you will later forgetVaginal dryness is taking care of with lubrication and vaginal estrogen creams such as premarin vag cream so that is not an issue. As for Osteoprososis; there is no need to think you will get that if you exercise and use calcium with vitamin D supplements. If your doc thinks it may still be a problem then as her to prescribe meds to help build up your bone density like Boniva. I am wondering if you don't need a second opinion since your doc does not seem to be discussing all of the issues with your thorougly nor is she even telling you that osteoporosis DOES NOT have to happen just because of menopause via the hysterectomy as well as not discussing the treatments for vaginal dryness or atrophy. My first instinct is to talk to another doc about about all of this BEFORE you get the surgery done even if it is just your regular MD.i wouldnt unless absolutely necessaryI am 28 years old and I have had a hysterectomy. Because of Endo, many many ovarian cysts and my family history of ovariain cancer I have had it all removed. Because of my personal expeirence of watching my Mom die horribly of ovarain cancer I am a HUGE advocate for complete and not partail hysterectomies. You can and will be put on hormones and as long as your a good girl and take extra calcuim everyday you should be fine. All of this was explained to me by my wonderful OB Surgeon that preformed my surgery and from my professional stand point. If you don't plan to have anymore children then there is no reason to keep them. You will just be taking pills for a very long time is all. Trust me its worth it all in the end. I know there are many risks involved but there are also several other things you can do to prevent osteoporosis. You will just have to be more careful. I know that you're concerned about the dryness as well, but there is always lubricants that you can purchase. Who knows maybe it can make your sex life better. If you are done having children then the taking of your ovaries shouldn't be all that bad.ok osteoporosis is not a big problem so there are osteoblasts and osteoclasts in bones which are making up our bones so osteoblasts are good guys and clasts are bad. when we are moving blasts are more active when immobile than clasts. so by calcium suppliments and exercising (not stranous) you can do fine. don't worry about dryness also there are a lot of gels and moisturizers you can use before intercourse and will have no problem. just believe that you are the happiest and everything good will happen with you and remember that your family needs you very much.
